Job summary

R. J. Corman Railroad Services in Caseyville, IL is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team.

You will transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in railroad derailment recovery, while handling heavy recovery gear and maintaining safety protocols. Responsibilities include operating CDL-A vehicles, performing equipment maintenance, and complying with DOT regulations. You must be able to work outdoors in all weather, with frequent travel to job sites and potential on-call

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A license with no restrictions and manual endorsement required.
• Valid DOT Medical Card required.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe vehicle operation.
• Ability to operate or learn specialized equipment such as sidebooms, track loaders, excavators, vac trucks, and grapple trucks.
• Experience with or ability to learn equipment maintenance, welding, and cutting torch operations.
• Must pass a background check, drug screen, and physical capacity test.
• Ability to work on-call 24/7 and travel frequently to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in railroad derailment recovery.
• Handle heavy steel chains, blocks, steel cables, and other recovery equipment.
• Practice safe work habits and ensure proper PPE is used.
• Safely drive, operate, and maintain CDL-A vehicles and equipment.
• Perform equipment maintenance, cleaning, and setup.
• Use hand and power tools, including cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Perform manual labor such as digging, hammering, and material handling.
• Follow DOT regulations, permits, and driving requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
