R.J. Corman Railroad Group, LLC is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Wichita, KS to transport, operate, and service equipment used in railroad derailment recovery. You will handle chains, cables, and recovery gear while maintaining safe work habits and PPE compliance.

The role requires CDL-A with endorsements, DOT medical card, and willingness to travel. You may operate sidebooms, track loaders, excavators, vac trucks, and grapple trucks, with welding/cutting torch duties and on-call

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A license with no restrictions and manual endorsement preferred.
• Valid DOT Medical Card preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe vehicle operation.
• Ability to operate or learn specialized equipment such as sidebooms, track loaders, excavators, vac trucks, and grapple trucks.
• Experience with welding, cutting torch operations, and equipment maintenance preferred.
• Must pass background check, drug screen, and physical capacity test.
• Able to work on-call 24/7 and travel frequently to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in railroad derailment recovery.
• Handle heavy steel chains, blocks, steel cables, and other recovery equipment.
• Practice safe work habits and ensure proper PPE is used.
• Safely drive, operate, and maintain CDL-A vehicles and equipment.
• Perform equipment maintenance, cleaning, and setup.
• Use hand and power tools, including cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Perform manual labor such as digging, hammering, and material handling.
• Follow DOT regulations, permits, and driving requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
