Job summary

McLane Company, Inc in De Pere, WI is seeking a Driver Trainee to learn the essential functions of the Driver role, including the accurate and timely distribution of products to customer locations while gaining exposure to warehouse operations.

This full-time position offers training pay of $18.00/hour, rising to $21.00/hour after completion of training, plus Day 1 benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus vacation, life insurance, and 401(k) options.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.
• Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer, use a 2-wheeled dolly, ramp, and on board PeopleNet devices.
• Read, write, and understand English sufficiently to perform job-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report.
• Document delivery receipts, product temperatures, and exceptions with the Driver Delivery Handheld.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving procedures.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Assist in unloading trailer and delivering product to customer premises.
• Provide customer service including on-time delivery and handling returns.
