Job summary

NIS EXPRESS in Merced, CA is hiring drivers. New CDL holders train on the road, earn weekly, and are paid orientation pay. You’ll drive short trips across 11 western states and are home every 2 weeks, with weekly miles typically 1,700–2,100.

During training you receive $650 per week, then full solo pay once you’re signed off, plus extra pay up to 6 cents per mile and $15 per stop. Comprehensive benefits follow after 30 days.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL and 21+ years old.
• Proof of 120+ hours from CDL school.
• 6 months OTR in last 12 months or 12+ months in past 5 years.
• 2 moving violations or fewer in 2 years; no major preventable accidents in 5 years.
• Clean DUI/DWI history for 5–10 years, depending on CDL date.
• Able to pass DOT physical and hair/urine drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Train new CDL holders on the road.
• Operate routes across 11 western states with short trips.
• Maintain weekly miles (about 1,700–2,100) and home every 2 weeks.

Pay First

• Average weekly earnings of $1,000 to $1,300
• Solo guarantee: $1,000 a week for 3 months after first solo dispatch
• Extra performance pay, up to 6 cents per mile
• $15 for each stop

Training for New CDL Holders

• $650 weekly training pay
• Trainer rides with you on live freight
• Full solo pay once you are signed off

Requirements

• Class A CDL, 21 or older
• Brand new drivers: proof of 120+ hours from an accredited CDL school
• Experienced drivers: 6 months OTR in the last 12 months, or 12+ months in the past 5 years
• 2 moving violations or fewer in 2 years, no major preventable accidents in 5 years
• Clean DUI/DWI history for 5 to 10 years, based on when you got your CDL
• Able to pass a DOT physical plus hair and urine drug testing
