Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking dedicated individuals to join as Combination Driver/Dockworker in Birmingham. You will load/unload freight, operate forklifts, and deliver freight between service centers and customer facilities.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English and perform basic math.
• Must hold a valid Class A CDL with appropriate hazmat/tanker endorsements.
• Must have an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Must have 12 months of tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of a state driving program.
• Must operate a handheld computer when required.
• Must have strong oral communication skills.
• Must follow instructions via radio or phone.
• Must know DOT regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts or manually while following DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight between service centers and customer locations safely and efficiently.
• Load, unload, and secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and other tools.
• Maintain quality loading of all trailers and assist with warehouse operations as needed.
• Coordinate with service center personnel and meet customer pickup/delivery schedules.
