Job summary

FedEx Freight is hiring a CDL driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers. Responsibilities include pre-trip safety inspections, securing cargo, and maintaining accurate documentation.

You will communicate with dispatch, assist in sales leads, and handle hazardous materials following DOT regulations. This role may require duties of road driver or dock staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• Must have 1 year experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT 391 FMC regulations.
• LCV qualifications for specified states (AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD, UT).
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods; bend, twist, squat; climb in/out of truck.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Move freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Handle freight charges and maintain required documentation.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers about pick-ups, deliveries, and opportunities.
• Provide excellent internal and external customer service.
• Solicit additional business leads for sales.
• May perform tire chaining or duties of road driver/dock staff when needed.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
