CDL-A City Driver: Freight Delivery & Customer Service

Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL-A Truck Driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers. You will support the sales process and ensure proper documentation and safety inspections.

Responsibilities include operating tractors, handling freight with forklifts and pallet jacks, and complying with hazmat regulations. A valid CDL-A with endorsements is required, along with a clean MVR and DOT readiness.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements.
• Minimum 1 year of driving experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must meet DOT/FMCSA requirements under 391.
• LCV drivers in listed states must meet LCV standards.
• Ability to count and perform basic math.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with equipment like forklift and pallet jack.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding pickups, deliveries, and opportunities.
• Provide leads to sales for potential new opportunities.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires.
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed.
• Follow laws and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
