Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL Class A driver in Hagerstown, MD to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers and support the selling process.

Responsibilities include operating tractor-trailer units, pre-trip inspections, securing cargo, completing documentation, and coordinating with dispatch and customers. DOT compliance and hazmat endorsement within 120 days are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements.
• Automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• One year experience in the most recent three years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 49 CFR 391.
• LCV knowledge applies to specified states and qualification standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples when applicable).
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Handle freight with forklift, pallet jack, or hand truck as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, and ropes.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as required.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous materials regulations.
• Communicate with dispatch and customers regarding pickups/deliveries.
• Offer leads to sales for new opportunities.
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed.
