Job summary

Builders Supply, A CRH company, is a leading supplier of ready mixed concrete, reinforcing steel, and building materials in Louisiana. The Truck Driver role focuses on safe operation of trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, asphalt, and other materials to job sites, with yard duties to stockpile and move materials as needed.

The position requires a CDL A or B license, 18+ years old, and the ability to pass a DOT physical and background check.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Two years of related tractor/trailer driving experience preferred.
• Must maintain a CDL A or CDL B license.
• Previous related experience in construction field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates truck in safe and professional manner on public highways, roads, in the yard area and at various job sites to deliver materials. Trucks driven include but are not limited to: belly dumps, dump truck and semi-tractor truck with attached trailers.
• Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to your manager.
• Perform daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with MSHA guidelines and company policies.
• Attaches and removes pup trailers, belly dump & side dump trailers, transfer trailers and tilt/transport trailers to truck as needed.
• Obey applicable laws and follow instructions.
• Maintain daily vehicle mileage logs.
• Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
• Load and unload equipment or materials. Depending on materials hauled, may require unloading of contents by hand.
• Assure product quality to the best of the driver's ability.
• Keep accurate logs of deliveries.
• Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.
• Must keep truck in a clean and orderly condition.
• Operator will be responsible for a safe work environment for themselves and co-workers. When working with co-workers, constant eye contact will be maintained when backing, communicating using hand signals or other movements.
• Properly follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
• Follow directions of manager as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite.
• Assist in training less-experienced employees on the proper operations, servicing and fueling of equipment to further their abilities.
• Perform general labor duties when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
