Job summary

Centra Health is seeking a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist II in Virginia. The role focuses on ensuring that medical record documentation accurately reflects severity of illness and risk of mortality through chart reviews and collaboration with providers, HIM/Coding teams, and the broader care team.

The ideal candidate holds an active RN license in Virginia (or compact state), has 2+ years CDI experience, and is eligible for CCDS/CDIP.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in the State of Virginia or a compact state.
• 2 years of Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) experience with demonstrated competency.
• CCDS or CDIP eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate DRG assignment and SOI/ROM reflection through chart reviews.
• Collaborates with coding, CDI team, and clinical staff to improve documentation.
• Reads AHIMA guidelines and AHIMA/CDI resources to stay updated.
• Identifies concurrent and retrospective query opportunities for medical record integrity.
• Escalates non-response to clinician queries according to policy.
• Maintains production standards per Centra Health policies.
