Job summary

Optum is seeking a CDI Manager in Phoenix to provide operational leadership for concurrent clinical documentation review programs. You will manage CDI staff, ensure documentation integrity, and drive improvement initiatives to support accurate clinical records.

This leadership role partners with the CDI Director, supports client meetings, and guides physician education to enhance documentation quality and outcomes within an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Current RN license or FMG designation.
• 3+ years of CDI experience.
• 1+ years of leadership/management in a CDI program (CCDS, CDIP, or CCS certification).
• Experience conducting CDI reviews in an acute care hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily CDI operations, staffing, and service levels.
• Oversee onboarding, training, coaching, and annual evaluations of CDI staff.
• Review CDI quality metrics, KPI audits, and action plans as needed.
• Partner with the CDI Director to support client meetings, reporting, and initiatives.
• Ensure inpatient records are reviewed within established timeframes.
• Oversee provider clarification and query processes to support accurate documentation.
• Monitor documentation quality trends and drive improvement strategies.
• Coordinate with HIM Coding, Care Coordination, Quality Management, and Physician Advisors to support documentation integrity.
• Facilitate physician education sessions and documentation improvement presentations.
• Monitor retrospective query activity and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Approve timecards and manage staffing during high-volume periods.
• Lead departmental projects and other assigned initiatives.
