Job summary

Optum is seeking a Service Area Director of Clinical Documentation Integrity to lead CDI across six hospitals in Arizona and Nevada. This role focuses on program oversight, education, and highvisibility client engagement, coordinating with executive leadership to ensure accurate clinical documentation.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years CDI and 2+ years leadership experience, with CCDS/CDIP preferred. Strong analytics, reporting skills, and ability to travel 30-40% are required.

Qualifications

• RN and/or MD/FMG credentialed, with CDI experience.
• 4+ years CDI experience in acute inpatient settings.
• 2+ years leadership experience in CDI programs.
• CCD S or CDIP certification is preferred.
• Advanced analytics and reporting experience (Excel, dashboards).
• Willingness to travel 30-40% to support multiple hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Lead CDI operations across multiple hospitals (AZ + NV).
• Drive program performance through KPIs, reporting, and oversight.
• Partner with hospital executives (CFO, CMO, clinical leadership).
• Lead client-facing meetings, escalations, and strategic discussions.
• Ensure staffing, workflows, and quality outcomes.
• Provide CDI education to providers and staff.
• Collaborate with finance, quality, and case management.
