Job summary

CDD is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide hands-on clinical care across residential, community-based, day habilitation, and school programs in the Kansas City area.

Under supervision from an RN and the Director of Nursing, you’ll monitor health, assist with medication administration, and train staff to ensure safety and quality care for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited LPN program and licensed in Missouri.
  • Active Level I Medication Administration trainer certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Missouri Class E License or Kansas Class C license.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and type in English.

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic nursing care under RN supervision.
  • Monitor health and vitals; assist with appointments.
  • Complete AIMS assessments as requested.
  • Assist with wound care and HRST assessments.
  • Document activities accurately in charts.

Full-Time | Kansas City, MO | Office & Field | Non-Exempt | $31.00 -$33.00/hour + Full Benefits

CDD is seeking a compassionate, skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide hands-on clinical care, staff education and training, and health support for individuals with developmental disabilities across our residential, community-based, day habilitation, and school programs.

Working under the supervision and clinical oversight of a Registered Nurse and the Director of Nursing, you’ll play an important role in monitoring individual health, supporting medication administration and staff competency, providing approved staff training, and performing routine clinical tasks that make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve.

This position may also provide nursing support within CDD’s Rainbow Center and other school-based programs, helping meet the health needs of students with developmental disabilities during the school day.

What You'll Do
Clinical Care
  • Provide basic nursing care to clients as directed by an RN and within the scope of the LPN license.
  • Monitor client health and record vitals as necessary.
  • Assist with doctor's appointments as requested.
  • Complete Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) assessments as requested.
  • Assist with wound care, including dressing changes and skin assessments.
  • Assist with Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) assessments as allowed by the Department of Mental Health.
Staff Training & Medication Administration
  • Provide nurse delegation trainings to direct support staff.
  • Teach Level I Medication Aide initial and recertification classes in accordance with Missouri Department of Mental Health requirements.
  • Assist with simulated medication passes and staff competency validation as assigned.
  • Complete immunizations per CDC and Department of Mental Health guidelines.
  • Assist in destroying expired, discontinued, and/or unused medications as requested.
  • Provide nursing support in CDD school-based programs as assigned.
Documentation & Communication
  • Accurately document activities in each individual's chart.
  • Accurately communicate and document staff training activities.
  • Communicate client status and changes to the appropriate RN and team members in a timely manner.
What You Bring
Required
  • Graduate from an accredited LPN program and licensed in the State of Missouri.
  • Active Level I Medication Administration trainer certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid Missouri Class E License or Kansas Class C license.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and type in English.
Preferred
  • Two or more years of experience working with persons with Intellectual Disabilities, Geriatrics, or a related field.
The Role at a Glance
  • Pay: $31.00 -$33.00/hour
  • Schedule: Full-time | Core hours vary based on program location needs
  • Work Setting: Office and field-based; CDD main office classroom, group homes, ISL settings, and school-based programs across the Kansas City metro.
  • Travel: Driving throughout the metropolitan area daily or as needed using personal vehicle
