Job summary

Center for Developmentally Disabled (CDD) is seeking a professional Receptionist to welcome visitors and keep the office running smoothly. The role supports administrative, HR, recruiting, and onboarding activities in a busy nonprofit setting in Kansas City, MO.

You will handle inquiries, manage sign-ins, assist with scheduling, and aid with HR processes while maintaining records and coordinating supplies. A strong customer focus and detail-oriented approach are essential.

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming calls, direct callers to the appropriate staff member or tenant, and provide routine company information.
  • Greet, assist, and direct visitors, applicants, employees, and other guests throughout the facility.
  • Monitor visitor access, maintain sign-in records, and support established emergency communication procedures.
  • Receive, sort, log, and distribute incoming mail and faxes.
  • Maintain internal phone directories, reserve meeting rooms in Outlook, and assist with office documents and meeting materials.
  • Enter newly hired Direct Support staff and supervisors into scheduling software and provide system access.
  • Maintain staff checklists, employee occurrence documentation, Workers' Compensation files, and related electronic and paper records.
  • Distribute and collect Pay Advancement forms and route completed documents to Payroll.
  • Order commonly used administrative supplies and receive, store, distribute, and document supply orders.
  • Support recruiting by greeting candidates, notifying Talent Acquisition staff, and distributing and collecting interview documentation.
  • Support HR and Training with new-hire arrivals and the start of the onboarding process.
  • Create employee anniversary letters and birthday cards for individuals supported by CDD.

What You Bring

Prior to being hired, you must have a high school diploma or GED.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to work for CDD.

You must have two forms of ID (driver's license or state ID, social security card, birth certificate, U.S. Passport, etc.).

You must be willing to work evenings, weekends and some holidays.

You must have the ability to read and document on behaviors, understand and implement person supported training plans, and assist individuals supported with personal hygiene (e.g. tooth brushing, bathing, showering, shaving, dressing, etc.).

You must have the ability to pass training courses such as medication administration, Adult First Aid, Adult CPR, and Abuse and Neglect.

Must have reliable transportation to and from work, and a Motor Vehicle Record check is required for some positions. Auto insurance coverage may be required for some positions as well.

CDD needs to be able to reach you by telephone.

Be aware that CDD will run a criminal background check.

We prefer non-smokers, and it is helpful for ALL full-time staff to have a current, valid driver's license, and be able to obtain a chauffeur's license if needed.
