Job summary

The City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Maintenance Worker to join the Public Works CCTV Inspections group. You will assist with CCTV inspections of stormwater drainage systems and perform hands-on maintenance tasks in varying weather.

Responsibilities include loading materials, cleaning structures, and carrying equipment to sites. A valid VA/NC driver’s license is required, along with a pre-employment physical and safety PPE. This role is open until filled.

Qualifications

• Completion of 7th grade plus one year of related public works experience.
• May require valid VA or NC driver’s license.
• Position is safety sensitive and requires drug testing.
• A pre-employment physical is required.
• May require PPE such as steel-toed boots, safety glasses, gloves.

Responsibilities

• Assist CCTV inspections of stormwater drainage systems.
• Perform loading and unloading of materials and supplies.
• Clean and maintain stormwater drainage structures (culverts, manholes, pipes).
• Carry tools and equipment to job sites; operate as needed.
• Serve as a flagger to direct traffic around construction zones.
