Job summary

WestCare Illinois Inc seeks a counselor to lead cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) group sessions in Chicago. The role delivers individual and group counseling, case management, education and referrals while maintaining client records and coordinating with community resources.

The candidate should have a High School diploma, with a preference for a Masters or Bachelors degree, and experience with CBT. Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Masters or bachelors degree preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with CBT curriculum.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to pass background check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain OIG LEIE clearance.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion.

• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification, first aid certification, and an annual tuberculosis test.

Responsibilities

• Monitor adherence to program policies and procedures.
• Facilitate CBT groups, family groups, and assist clients.
• Deliver individual and group counseling, case management, education and referrals to services and community resources.
• Maintain relationships with referring and supporting agencies and represent the agency at community meetings.
• Assist with ancillary services, e.g., family support groups, education groups, continuing care, networking with community agencies, updating referral information.
• Maintain client treatment files per agency policies, including documentation of vocational/educational activities.
• Provide general client supervision and plan therapeutic activities.
• Prepare client progress reports as needed.
• Interact with the criminal justice system and/or referral sources as necessary.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
