Job summary

MELE Associates, Inc. is seeking a full-time CBRN equipment support professional to back the DHS MDDU in Herndon, VA. The role maintains readiness of CBRN detection equipment and conducts nation-wide detection operations, training, and exercises with federal, state, and local partners.

The candidate will manage equipment, perform field repairs, handle radioactive sources, and support surveillance and reporting tasks, with significant travel and the ability to work beyond standard hours as needed.

Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in radiation detection training and supporting detection operations at events or steady state operations.
• Knowledgeable in using representative R/N detection equipment (PRD, RIIDs, backpacks, RSI-701).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level national security clearance and DHS Suitability.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Must have valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Track and maintain care, custody, and control of MDDU equipment and radioactive sources.
• Conduct inventories of DHS MDDU property and update tracking information.
• Ensure equipment is repaired, calibrated, and maintained for deployment 24/7.
• Safely handle, transport, and ship radioactive sources per regulations.
• Perform CBRN detection operations with Federal, state, and local agencies.
• Conduct CBRN training and exercises with stakeholders.
• Prepare and report after-action and status updates as required.
• Travel 50–75% of the month within the contiguous U.S. and territories.
