Job summary

AgReserves, Inc. seeks an experienced Cattle Unit Manager to lead daily cattle operations on our ranches.

You will oversee animal welfare, pasture management, and team leadership within a safety-focused environment, aligning with our General Manager’s strategic goals. You will implement best practices, monitor herd performance, maintain infrastructure, and ensure accurate record-keeping while supervising staff and coordinating with leaseholders and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in animal science, ranch management, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on cattle operations experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of livestock handling, pasture/range management, and ranch equipment.
• Familiarity with ranch management software, data entry, and maintaining accurate records and reports.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work in remote outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cattle care, feeding, health monitoring, and handling practices of personal herd.
• Plan and carry out grazing using pasture conditions and moving livestock to meet goals.
• Monitor livestock performance and support strategies to improve weight gain.
• Keep accurate records of herd performance, treatments, pasture use, and inventory.
• Maintain water systems, fencing, and forage, and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Rack expenses and manage the budget to stay on target.
• Act as a main contact for leaseholders and internal teams.
• Support use of new tools and best practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.
• Follow environmental, safety, and company rules.
• Respond to emergencies like weather, animal health issues, or equipment problems.
• Supervise and train staff, promoting teamwork, safety, and proper animal care.
