Job summary

Deseret Cattle & Citrus is seeking an experienced Cattle Unit Manager to join our ranch leadership team in St. Cloud, Florida. You will oversee daily cattle operations, ensure animal welfare, pasture management, and lead a dedicated team to meet program goals.

You will coordinate grazing plans, monitor performance, maintain infrastructure, and manage records and budget. The role requires 3+ years in cattle operations with supervisory experience, a relevant degree, and a valid driver’s license;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in animal science, ranch management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years hands-on cattle operations experience, including at least 1 year in supervision.
• Strong knowledge of livestock handling, pasture/range management, and ranch equipment.
• Experience with operation and maintenance of ranch equipment.
• Lead effectively with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with ranch management software and record-keeping.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work in remote outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cattle care, feeding, health monitoring, and handling practices of personal herd.
• Help plan and carry out grazing, using pasture conditions to meet goals.
• Monitor livestock performance and support strategies to improve weight gain.
• Keep accurate records of herd performance, treatments, pasture use, and inventory.
• Maintain water systems, fencing, and forage; coordinate repairs as needed.
• Track expenses and manage the budget to stay on target.
• Serve as main contact for leaseholders and internal teams.
• Promote use of new tools and best practices to improve efficiency and sustainability.
• Follow environmental, safety, and company rules.
• Respond to emergencies like weather, animal health issues, or equipment problems.
• Supervise and train staff, promoting teamwork, safety, and proper animal care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
