Job summary

Hansen Agri-PLACEMENT is seeking an Assistant Cattle Manager for a progressive, family-operated cattle operation in Kansas. This role emphasizes hands-on cow/calf work with a strong focus on health protocols and calving management.

The position involves working closely with ownership to recognize sick animals, assist with calving, vaccinate and treat cattle, and supervise feeding as needed. Housing and benefits are provided after a probation period.

Qualifications

• Must Have: Strong cow/calf and general cattle experience.
• Excellent cattle-health skills with the ability to recognize sick or compromised cattle early.
• Calving experience, including the ability to identify problems and assist/pull calves when necessary.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned cattle.
• Experience operating feed trucks, loaders, pickups, UTVs, and general cattle equipment.
• Ability to safely gather, process, vaccinate, and treat cattle.
• Strong work ethic with excellent attendance and dependability.
• Honest, accountable, and willing to communicate problems when they arise.
• Ability to follow established protocols and management direction.
• Willingness to work additional or irregular hours during calving and severe weather when livestock needs require it.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day cow/calf operations and ensure cattle are managed per established protocols.
• Identify and respond to sick or compromised cattle; assist with calving and pulling calves when necessary.
• Vaccinate, treat, and process cattle; manage feeding when required.
• Operate and maintain cattle-handling equipment and support vehicles.
• Monitor cattle health, body condition, and grazing during pasture rotations; communicate issues to ownership.
