Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a Machinery Service Tech 1 (Rentals) to repair, maintain and rebuild Caterpillar and allied equipment in the shop or field, safely and efficiently with minimal labor hours and no rework.

With 2–5 years of experience in heavy equipment repair and a valid California Driver’s License, you will diagnose issues, install parts, perform updates, document work, and communicate effectively with the team. Apprenticeship or technical school in diesel technology is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in repair of Caterpillar products or other heavy equipment.
• Prefer apprenticeship or graduation from accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel technology.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose issues on Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, and test/adjust assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed by Caterpillar, Inc.
• Analyze systems to ensure proper operation based on design.
• Write service reports documenting diagnosis and repairs daily.
• Enter labor time daily in DBS and order parts as required.
• Complete assigned jobs to meet flat rate times with minimal rework.
