Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is hiring a Machinery Service Tech 1 (Rentals) to diagnose, repair and rebuild Caterpillar equipment in a safe, efficient manner. You will communicate with team members, organize jobs, and complete work within quoted times in a shop or in the field.

Requires 2–5 years of heavy equipment repair experience, a HS diploma or equivalent, and the ability to obtain crane and forklift certifications. Tools and service software proficiency are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–5 years of experience repairing Caterpillar/heavy equipment.
• Apprenticeship or technical school in diesel technology preferred.
• Must pass crane qualification and forklift cert tests.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose issues on Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Disassemble/assemble components, test and adjust assemblies.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed.
• Maintain accurate service reports and time entries.
• Order parts via DBS and use service software to document work.
