Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a Machinery Service Tech 1 (Rentals) to perform repair, maintenance and rebuilding of equipment in the service shop or field, with minimal supervision and in a safe, efficient manner.

You will diagnose Caterpillar and allied equipment, disassemble/assemble parts, run updates, document repairs, and log labor time daily, contributing to a team dedicated to quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years experience repairing Caterpillar/heavy equipment.
• Apprenticeship completion or tech-school diesel emphasis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and diagnose issues on Caterpillar and allied equipment.
• Remove/install parts, disassemble/assemble components, test and adjust with minimal supervision.
• Perform Caterpillar updates as directed by Caterpillar, Inc.
• Enter labor time daily in DBS and write service reports documenting repairs.
• Adhere to safety rules (OSHA/MSHA) and company policies.
• Communicate effectively with peers and supervisors.
