Candidates have to have a flexible schedule and will work evenings, holidays, and weekends. The pay rate for this position starts at $21 / hour.

JOB SUMMARY

The catering supervisor is responsible for leading the hourly workforce to execute catering events. This role also has management accountabilities for discipline and team selection. This individual also ensures that the quality of the products and services provided to the customer meet or exceed standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Supervises team members in their area of responsibility. Consults with members of management to make changes as needed to improve services.
  2. Follows established Parkhurst and client policies and procedures. Upholds standards.
  3. Communicates using Smile Plus skills and coaches team members on their use of the Smile Plus hospitality imperatives.
  4. May assist in purchasing foods and supplies.
  5. Maintains presence in service areas to assess customer satisfaction levels and resolve problems. Communicates findings to management.
  6. Ensures practices and procedures comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  7. Follows the human resource policies and procedures, treats team members with fairness and respect.
  8. Has input into hiring, performance appraisal and discipline of staff under management oversight.
  9. Orients and trains staff. May be required to present inservice training programs.
  10. Communicates to staff regularly, both formally and informally; holds team meetings to ensure staff awareness of department activities. Assists management in keeping team members aware of any changes in policies and procedures.
  11. Serves as a role model for team members by maintaining standards for appearance, dress, attendance, and professional behavior.
  12. Enforces safety standards with team members. Reports safety problems to management.
  13. Ensures sanitation standards are enforced. Monitors cleaning procedures.
  14. Maintains morale on their shift through a sense of urgency, professionalism, and team building; resolves team member conflicts.
  15. May assist in the planning and execution of catered events in conjunction with other team members.
  16. May open and close the department. Demonstrates responsibility for department security.
  17. Performs hands-on tasks as required by the operation.
  18. Maintains a plan for self-development and professional growth.
  19. Serves and interacts with our guests in a friendly, professional manner.
  20. Follows all service procedures according to Parkhurst’s catering manual.
  21. Ensures all rented items are separated for vendor pick-up.
  22. Follows cleaning schedule as provided by management, using “clean as you go” techniques.
  23. Maintains an open line of communication with management, informing them of products and supplies needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Three or more years of professional experience with one or more years in a catering supervisory role.
  2. Strong planning and organizational abilities; ability to meet deadlines.
  3. Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft software programs.
  5. High school or GED.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  1. Lifting objects up to 30 lbs.
  2. Bending, reaching, and grasping.
  3. Walking long distances.
  4. Exposure to high noise levels.
  5. Exposure to high heat and humidity levels.

Job Hazards:

  1. Burns, cuts, slips, falls, and back sprains.
