Brattleboro Food Co-op is seeking on‑call catering staff for holiday events, offering flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends. Join a friendly, fast‑paced kitchen team and help assemble, present and deliver catering platters for diverse events.

Ideal candidates are reliable, able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work well under pressure. Prior food prep or catering experience is a plus, with ServSafe/food handler certification a strong plus.

Formación

• Experience in food prep, catering, or kitchen environments is a plus, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn count.
• Ability to accept short‑notice call‑ins and flexible shifts (mornings, evenings, weekends).
• Knowledge of dietary needs and cross‑contamination prevention is helpful.
• Physical ability to stand long periods and lift up to 40–50 lbs.
• Reliable team player who works well under pressure.

Responsabilidades

• Craft and present food by assembling, plating, wrapping, and staging catering platters and meals.
• Handle batch kitchen prep, chopping, slicing, and mixing for large orders and events.
• Assist with catering pickups and event execution, providing friendly support to organizers and guests.
• Maintain food safety, station cleanliness, and FIFO stock rotation in a fast‑paced setting.
• Collaborate with team across prep, packaging, equipment breakdown and dishwashing.

What You'll Do

• Craft & Present Food: Assist in assembling, plating, wrapping, and staging stunning catering platters and individualized meals to quality standards.
• Prep Like a Pro: Handle batch kitchen prep - chopping, slicing, and mixing fresh ingredients for large‑scale orders and catered events.
• Deliver Great Service: Assist with catering pickups and event execution, providing friendly, helpful support to event organizers and guests.
• Keep Things Seamless: Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, station organization, and stock rotation (FIFO) in a fast‑paced environment.
• Team Collaboration: Jump in wherever help is needed most—from prep work and order packaging to equipment breakdown and dishwashing.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Prior experience in food prep, catering, or kitchen environments is a plus (but a positive attitude and willingness to learn go a long way!).
• Flexibility: Ability to accept short‑notice call‑ins and flexible shifts (including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as catering demands dictate).
• Dietary Awareness: Basic knowledge of dietary needs (vegan, gluten‑free, major allergens) and cross‑contamination prevention.
• Physical Capability: Comfort standing for extended periods and safely lifting/carrying up to 40-50 lbs.
• Reliability: A team player who shows up on time, adapts quickly, and maintains high standards under pressure.
• Certifications: Food Handler or ServSafe certification is a strong plus!
