Job summary

Compass Group USA in Vallejo, CA is hiring immediately for a full-time Catering Senior Captain. The role supervises catering department staff, prepares and serves food at functions, and may drive a truck to deliver to events.

Key duties include overseeing workload from catering orders, coordinating setup with group leaders, delivering supplies, resolving issues, upholding sanitation, ensuring proper presentation and temperatures.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in catering roles such as catering captain, banquet, bartending, serving, event setup and breakdown.
• Strong customer service and communication skills required.
• Ability to supervise staff and coordinate events with teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervises employees in the Catering Department and assists in performance appraisals.
• Determines workload requirements from catering orders.
• Meets with function group leaders to discuss setup arrangements, address last-minute changes and resolve problems.
• Assembles and delivers food and supplies to the scheduled catering functions.
• Returns food, beverages, serving equipment and utensils to the catering facility.
• Distributes and collects customer comment cards at catered functions.
• Ensures proper presentation, portion control and serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation and orderliness of equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
