Job summary

Levy, part of Compass Group USA, is seeking a Catering Sales Manager in Chicago to coordinate and oversee internal and external catering events. You will be responsible for menu development, costing, and marketing functions for the catering department, while implementing labor and food cost controls for events.

You will manage labor, budgets, and client relations, write proposals with chefs, and ensure safe, high-quality service with strong vendor collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven track record for meeting sales goals.
• Hospitality industry experience including catering sales.
• Supervisory, scheduling, training and coaching skills.
• Ability to assess client requirements and deliver ensuring client satisfaction.
• Must be able to write menu proposals in consultation with chefs.
• Knowledge of A/V equipment and setup for events.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
• Superior quantitative, oral and written communications and problem-solving/strategizing skills.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills, flexible and adaptable to constant changes and must possess attention to detail.
• Excellent overall computer skills with advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proactive mindset and able to remain calm under pressure to anticipate and support changes in our business.

Responsibilities

• Hires, trains and develops managers and drives service techniques, menu presentation, policies and procedures.
• Creates operating statements, reports, and budgets, and manages receivables reviews.
• Creates catering activities, books, plans and directed functions.
• Prepares proposals, contracts and banquet event orders.
• Monitors budgets, financial targets and forecasts.
• Maintains local client database and vendor relationships.
• Ensures HACCP compliance in safety and sanitation procedures.
• Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
