Job summary

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is seeking an Assistant Manager Catering Operations in Amherst, MA. This role serves as the primary operational partner to the Catering Manager, ensuring efficient planning, coordination, and execution of catering logistics and daily operations.

You will supervise staff, coordinate events, and uphold service standards across multiple campus functions. Responsibilities include scheduling, transportation logistics, BEO preparation, and on-site leadership

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent with 7+ years of related experience; or an Associate degree with 5+ years; or a Bachelor's degree with 1+ year experience.
Experience coordinating schedules, logistics, inventory, and operational support functions.
Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and workforce management software.
Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Develops and executes catering logistics and daily operations plans.
Oversees scheduling, transportation logistics, and event setup for campus catering.
Coordinates Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and supports special events.
Provides on-site leadership, coaching, and supervision of staff during events.
Acts as liaison among Catering Sales, Operations, Service Teams, Drivers, and clients.
