SSA Group is looking for a talented Catering Operations District Manager to join our team!

*Position will support locations in AZ, CA, CO, ID, NV, UT, and WA. Individual must reside in one of those states as well.

JOB SUMMARY

The District Manager of Catering Operations will serve as a strategic business partner and subject matter expert on event and catering operations within their assigned region. This role involves leading teams, ensuring operational excellence, and driving business growth through strategic initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead and mentor catering operations team members across the region.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to ensure high standards.
  • Onboard and train new Catering Operations Directors/Managers.
  • Plan and direct the hiring and training of new operations leaders in the unit.
  • Collaborate with General Managers on performance evaluations and corrective plans when needed.
  • Ensure all catering locations within the region meet company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for food quality, safety, and cleanliness.
  • Maintain SSA's operational standards and those of our partners.
  • Travel frequently to units to act as the day-of leader for large-scale or high-touch events.

Strategic Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other SSA departments to coordinate catering activities and support company-wide initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal clients and in-unit teams.
  • Drive innovation by establishing and implementing best practices.
  • Promote sustainability and conservation efforts within the team.
  • Engage in community efforts and drive initiatives that give back to the community.
  • Manage catering budgets in conjunction with the District Manager, Sales & Events.
  • Monitor operational expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and implement business strategies for revenue growth.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.

Performance Metrics:

  • Set and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.

  • Leads by example through Sustainability/Conservation efforts.
  • Engages with SSA/Unit in driving community effort through engagement activities and focus.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven leadership skills with experience in high-volume catering or events.
  • Strong financial management, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Culinary experience and knowledge of food quality, presentation, and service standards.
  • ServSafe or Food Handling Certification is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Tripleseat is a plus.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 9 years in catering or event operations with experience in off-site catering, unique venues, hotel or cultural attraction venue preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in a catering leadership position, preferably leading direct reports.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
