A little about our position...


Our newest gourmet location in Port Jefferson, NY, is actively seeking a full-time Catering Manager to oversee its in-store Catering Team. The Catering Manager will supervise the department team and ensure the success of catering operations.

Responsibilities
  1. Direct and supervise catering logistics and operations.
  2. Receive and confirm customer orders via in person or phone, ensuring accuracy of all food items.
  3. Complete proposals, contacts, menus, correspondence, and reports following Uncle Giuseppe's procedures.
  4. Plan events and design menus.
  5. Book outside vendors for equipment rentals, wait staff, and other event resources.
  6. Process online orders and ensure payments are received.
  7. Coordinate pick-up and delivery schedules.
  8. Assist the Catering Manager with clerical tasks.
  9. Help set up and manage in-store demonstrations.
  10. Assist with deliveries of catered orders and events as needed.
  11. Respond promptly to customer complaints.
  12. Develop and maintain customer relationships.
  13. Process weekly gratuities.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years of management experience in catering, event planning, or event management.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and relevant computer programs.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage cost controls.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Motivated to learn and capable of making quick decisions.
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand English.
  • Availability for extended hours, including weekends, nights, and holidays during peak seasons.

Working Conditions

Most of the time, you will be moving about on hard surfaces, with frequent bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping. Lifting objects up to 30 pounds is required, with assistance for heavier items. The environment is primarily indoor, with exposure to machinery and loud equipment, requiring shouting to communicate. There may be temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers, and occasional exposure to cleaning agents and sharp objects.
