Job summary

Middlebury College is seeking a Catering Coordinator & Event Supervisor to join our Dining Services team. This role blends event coordination, customer communication, administrative organization, and hands-on supervision for a campus-wide catering operation generating about $1.8 million annually.

The position is full-time, benefits-eligible, and hourly, with a hiring range of $21.91–$26.09 per hour and shift differentials for eligible hours.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years prior experience in food services or catering
• Transferrable skills: communication, leadership, problem solving, teamwork, creativity, multitasking, critical thinking
• Associates degree in food service or equivalent experience; ServSafe course required
• Flexibility with schedule and duties
• MS Word/Office/Oracle HCM/Excel, website management, Catertrax and 25 Live Pro preferred; office equipment proficiency
• Must gain VT DLC certification, Middlebury College driver’s license, and PCI compliance

Responsibilities

• Maintain professional, consistent communication with customers, coworkers and stakeholders; receive and track catering orders efficiently
• Execute successful events; coordinate with Catering team; assess equipment, product and staffing needs; create signage; manage time and resources; follow up on all tasks
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment; follow ServSafe guidelines
• Transport products and equipment across campus year-round
• Uphold Vermont alcohol service, storage, and inventory rules; supervise on-call staff
• Ensure PCI-compliant payment processes and accurate sales reporting
• Develop and maintain knowledge of department software; master Catertrax for communication with customers
• Manage time/resources; support training and performance of on-call staff; contribute to continuous improvement
