Job summary

The Luxury Collection in Portland, OR seeks an experienced Event Manager to lead banquet and convention planning for group events at our upscale hotel. You will supervise staff, coordinate with clients, and ensure revenue targets are achieved while delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Located at 525 SW Morrison, this full-time, on-site role offers a $65,000–$70,000 pay range with comprehensive benefits and opportunities to contribute to Sage Hospitality’s premium brand in a dynamic city

Qualifications

• More than two years of post high school education.
• One to two years of related work experience with this company or other organization(s).
• Requires knowledge of banquet/catering food and beverage services.
• Requires knowledge of computer equipment.
• Supervisory skills needed.
• Communication skills required to provide information and services to hotel management and guests.
• Excellent hearing necessary for verbal interaction with guests and associates.
• Excellent vision and speech communication skills required for verbal interaction with guests and associates.

Responsibilities

• Manage meetings, conventions and related activities.
• Attend Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings and lead hotel department staff in event delivery.
• Achieve minimum productivity and activity goals as set by management.
• Coordinate all group business and follow up on signed/contracted business within 5 working days.
• Maintain organized, accurate file management for client and employer.
• Develop customer profiles and maintain a trace system for revenue opportunities.
• Build strong client relationships through professional interactions.
• Follow up on client needs and inquiries efficiently.
• Focus on revenue-generating activity and retain accounts to maximize yield.
• Detail and up-sell programs including space, A/V, times, equipment, menus, themes.
• Manage function details to ensure program requirements are met and handle complaints.
• Oversee billing details for hotel groups including deposits and direct bills.
• Contribute to development of sales tools and analyze competition and customer needs.
• Monitor client budgets to maximize revenue and minimize costs.
• Lead pre-con meetings and coordinate with client and staff; review BEO details.
• Close out groups with final pickup reports and commissions with accounting.
