Job summary

SSA Group at San Antonio Zoo is actively seeking a Director of Catering & Event Operations to lead catering logistics, planning, execution, and quality control for high-profile events. You will partner with Sales, Culinary, and other departments to deliver seamless guest experiences at onsite and offsite venues.

The role demands expert client relationship skills, strong leadership, and financial acumen to manage event budgets and drive profitability while maintaining top-tier service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years catering operations and/or event planning management in off-site catering, hotel or cultural attraction catering preferred.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience is required; candidates with 8+ years will be given stronger consideration.
• Knowledge of Tripleseat is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed plans for catering events, including event orders, pull sheets, execution timelines, staffing schedules, visual appeal and logistics layouts.
• Coordinate with sales representatives to understand event requirements and ensure all details are accurately captured and executed.
• Oversee setup, execution, and breakdown of events, ensuring all aspects run smoothly and efficiently.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure repeat business and satisfaction.
• Negotiate with vendors to optimize costs and quality; manage resources and inventory for events.
