Salary range is for this level and may vary based on actual level of role hired for.

*This range represents a national range and the actual salary will depend on several factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the skills, education, training, credentials, location, and experience of an applicant, as well as level of role for which the successful candidate is hired. Position may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.

Position Summary:

Exercises independent discretion or judgment in handling all types of catastrophe property claims. Also assists assigned field office when not on catastrophe deployment in handling day-to-day property claims.

  • This is a work-from-home position and we are accepting applications within the entire ERIE Operating Footprint. This includes anyone living within the states of PA, NY, MD/DC, NC, VA, WV, TN, WI, IL, IN, OH, and KY.
  • The majority of responsibilities will require travel throughout the ERIE footprint.
  • A company car with paid gas card will be provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Establishes contact with Policyholders regarding their loss, driving to the site of damage within assigned territory or as required.
  2. Sets and manages reserves within designated authority.
  3. Identifies and assesses damages, determines liability and total claim value.
  4. Prepares estimates, obtains scope of work and costs with contractors and Policyholders.
  5. Documents all activities and submits final reports for claim closure.
  6. Decides on payments, issues checks, and negotiates claims when necessary.
  7. Assigns and supervises property loss handling by independent adjusters when needed.
  8. Attends industry training to stay current on legal developments and compliance.
  9. Assists field offices when not on Catastrophe Duty to bring claims to conclusion.
  10. Maintains operational readiness of assigned vehicle(s).

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; five years claims handling experience including two in property claims; knowledge of structural damage repair and valuation techniques; preferred completion of AIC program; proficiency with estimating software; valid license and good driving record; willingness to travel extensively.

Physical Requirements:

Lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, frequent driving, manual data entry, climbing heights.
