Establishes immediate contact with Policyholders regarding their loss, driving to the site of damage within the assigned territory or other locations if required.
Sets and manages adequate reserves within designated authority.
Properly identifies and assesses damage. Determines liability and the total value of the claim.
Prepares a proper estimate related to the identified damages and obtains an agreed scope of work and cost of repair with contractors and/or Policyholders.
Properly documents claim files with all activities and submits final reports for closure.
Decides on payment or declines it, issuing checks as necessary. Negotiates claims with attorneys when needed.
Assigns and supervises handling of property losses by independent adjusters when necessary. Advises claims adjusters on claim handling.
Attends industry-related training to stay current on legal developments and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assists assigned field offices as needed when not on Catastrophe Duty; brings claims to conclusion.
Maintains operational readiness of the Sprinter Van attached to the office where the CAT adjuster is based.

High school diploma or equivalent required. At least five years of claims handling experience, including two years in property claims, required. Strong technical knowledge of structural damage repair and valuation techniques or equivalent required.
Completion of the Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred. Proficiency with estimating software (preferably Symbility) or equivalent preferred. Appropriate state license required. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are mandatory. Incumbent must reside within the assigned territory unless approved for relocation. The role involves being part of the Catastrophe Team as a first responder, with frequent short-notice travel for extended periods.
