Position Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks candidates for the position of Catalog & Curriculum Editor in the Office of the University Registrar (OUR). This position will maintain appropriate controls in order to maintain the integrity of all UNC-CH curricular documents and systems. The Catalog & Curriculum Editor will assist with the design and implementation of new catalog and curriculum-related systems, and the creation and editing of university publications. This position will serve as the editorial liaison between University Registrar units, other campus units, photographers, university offices, and external campus partners in the planning, writing, and/or assembly of the Academic Catalog and thoroughly proofread writing, artwork and proofs for quality and accuracy and ensure that corrections are made. This position will partner the Graduate School and Undergraduate Curricula to meet and work with departments to coordinate and manage onboarding of new programs and certificates to the catalog and curriculum related systems. The Catalog & Curriculum Editor may also occasionally assist with the production of the commencement program, if needed.

Additionally, the Catalog & Curriculum Editor will coordinate the maintenance of the Master Inventory of Programs informing appropriate staff of approved program changes, including changes in program requirements, degree/major/minor titles, and general education requirements. The Catalog & Curriculum Editor will coordinate the correction of all electronic and printed materials regarding the curriculum and assist as needed with the management and maintenance of the related PeopleSoft tables.

The Catalog & Curriculum Editor will manage the editorial duties of the published Undergraduate Catalog and the Graduate Catalog; serve as a resource to campus on other issues related to curriculum, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Management Preferences
  • Experience managing academic catalogs, curriculum systems, or related academic records within a higher education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience editing, proofreading, and producing complex publications with a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to established editorial standards.
  • Knowledge of university curriculum governance processes, including program approvals, course and degree requirements, and academic policy implementation.
  • Experience working with student information systems and curriculum management platforms, such as PeopleSoft, CourseLeaf, or similar enterprise systems.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, academic departments, and administrative partners while managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
