Tokio Marine HCC – Casualty Group has an exciting opportunity for a Casualty Claims Specialist. This role involves supporting a critical claim unit and adding value to the organization. The Casualty Group, a member of Tokio Marine HCC, includes Primary Casualty, Excess Casualty, and Artisan Contractors, with over 250 years of combined underwriting experience, creating customized casualty products for sophisticated liability buyers.

Job Summary

Handles claims involving investigation of coverage, liability, damages, and resolution of both non-litigated and litigated files for primary casualty lines, focusing on Artisan, small- to mid-level Construction Defect, and Owners, Landlords & Tenant (OL&T) claims across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

• Proactively manage complex claims from FNOL to resolution, collaborating with and advising business partners.
• Analyze and draft coverage letters, communicating coverage positions effectively.
• Manage transfer cases, maintain current diaries, and ensure files are worked on and brought current, aiming for a 1:1 open-to-close ratio and reducing indemnity and ALE costs.
• Conduct investigations and oversee outside vendors or experts as needed.
• Draft reports, set timely reserves, and escalate cases to leadership when reserves exceed authority.
• Provide technical advice to claims leadership and underwriting.
• Mentor less experienced adjusters.
• Travel for conferences, mediations, and trials as necessary.
• Become proficient in all relevant systems.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: Graduate Degree, JD, CPCU, AIC.

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in handling construction defect and OL&T claims, including New York Labor Law claims.
