How you'll make an impact

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide advice on coverage and perform analysis of coverage-related issues for clients to facilitate the settlement and payment of marine general liability claims against an insured company for damages caused by maritime operations, which can include property damage, bodily injury, or economic losses.

    • Ship Repairer’s Legal Liability
    • Marine Contractor’s Legal Liability
    • Stevedore’s Legal Liability
    • Wharfinger’s Legal Liability
    • Terminal Operator’s Legal Liability
    • Dock Physical Damage
    • Hull – Personal and Commercial
    • Protection & Indemnity – Personal and Commercial
    • Boat Dealer’s Inventory
    • Hull Builder’s Risk
    • Contractor’s Equipment
    • Builders Risk Coverage.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the claimant and the client.
  • Claim adjustments in accordance with policy terms and conditions.
  • Responsible for handling of marine general liability claims from first notification to final claim settlement.
  • Appointing marine surveyors and other experts and then monitoring their output from a technical quality and service point of view.
  • Liaising with claimants to assist with investigating the cause of damage, establishing liability and collecting all necessary claims documentation.
  • Marine General Liability insurance policy interpretation and advising clients of their liability under the policy of Marine insurance.
  • Making recommendations to clients on settlement or otherwise of claims under the Marine policy.
  • Preparation of periodic data and trend analytical reports to clients.
  • Management of Marine Claims Database and the proprietary platform.

Meeting and where possible exceeding client SLAs to ensure robust audit results.


About You

Required: High school diploma and 5 years related experience required. Good understanding of claims processing and the insurance brokerage business. Licensing required.

Preferred: Bachelors Degree preferred. The candidate must have active adjuster licenses in the US to handle property and casualty claims and/or be willing to obtain them as a condition of their employment.

Behaviors: Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing and embrace new challenges. Analytical skill necessary to make decisions and resolve complex issues inherent in handling losses. Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of serious claims including the ability to interpret related documentation.
