Job summary

Delaware North is seeking a Cook to join the Mardi Gras Casino team in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. The role involves executing established recipes, maintaining mise en place, and delivering high-quality menu items for daily service.

You will operate at assigned stations, follow safety and sanitation standards, and contribute to inventory and cost-control efforts while supporting a collaborative culinary team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes.
• Basic math skills, with the ability to calculate and follow recipe measurements.
• Strong understanding of kitchen fundamentals, food safety, mise en place, and portion control.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate expertise in multiple cooking techniques and prepare high-quality menu items with consistency, precision, and attention to detail.
• Manage assigned stations independently with organization, cleanliness, mise en place, and service readiness.
• Prepare proteins, vegetables, sauces, stocks, starches, garnishes, and other ingredients for daily service.
• Use knife skills, fabrication methods, portioning techniques, and proper ingredient handling to maximize yield and minimize waste.
• Ensure food quality, temperature, presentation, and portions meet standards during all service periods.
• Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment safely, adhering to sanitation and health codes.
• Support inventory through receiving, labeling, dating, rotation, and FIFO while aiding food cost control.
• Collaborate with culinary team and assist in training less experienced staff and communicating issues to leadership.
