Essential Job Functions:

1. Provide efficient and courteous service to customers at all times, including inviting customers to check out.
2. Never sign off the register with a customer waiting; always wait until someone relieves you.
3. Scan and ring customer orders according to company policy, including store productivity standards.
4. Ensure items are credited to the correct department and all items are removed from the cart.
5. Receive and be accountable for all funds taken for each transaction.
6. Assist the courtesy clerk in bagging groceries.
7. Keep work station and surrounding area neat and clean.
8. Follow all state and local laws regarding beer and/or wine sales, federal laws for WIC handling, and coupon procedures.
9. Follow company policies for check cashing, tendering, and transactions involving Debit Card, Credit Card, Gift Card, EBT Cash, and EBT Food Stamps.
10. Use assigned tills properly and take weekly produce tests.
11. Record and turn in all not-on-file items daily.
12. Follow proper procedures for obtaining change and using the intercom.
13. Refrain from conversations with other associates while checking out orders.
14. Understand and be able to explain the ValuCard program.
15. Assist with light stocking duties, sweep the front end, replace misplaced items, and keep bathrooms clean.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
