Job summary

Brownswood Nursery on Johns Island seeks a friendly Cashier & Sales Trainee to greet customers, offer expert plant guidance, and ensure a great shopping experience at the Charleston area’s leading nursery.

You’ll work in a fast-paced, outdoor setting with on-the-job training, horticultural opportunities, and benefits. Schedule includes Mondays through Saturdays with weekend availability required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of customer service or retail/wholesale experience preferred.
• Horticultural education or practical plant knowledge is a plus (training provided!).
• Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable plant guidance.
• Assist customers in selecting plants and related products for their spaces.
• Ensure a positive, efficient shopping experience and accurate transactions.

Location: Johns Island, SC (Charleston area) Schedule: Monday through Saturday (Saturday availability is required) Hourly Rate: $17 - $20 / hour (commensurate with experience)

What We Are Looking For

• An outgoing, positive, and collaborative self-starter with a strong work ethic and high integrity
• Excellent communication skills to build friendly rapport with customers and teammates
• Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to guide customers in choosing the "right plant for the right space"
• 2+ years of customer service or retail/wholesale experience preferred
• Horticultural education or practical plant knowledge is a plus (training provided!)
• Proficiency with computers and POS systems (Microsoft Office experience preferred)
• Comfortable with physical outdoor activity (lifting, loading, bending, and moving plant materials/bagged soils)
• Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with assistance/equipment
