Job summary

Hometown Coffee & Juice is seeking a friendly Cashier to be the first point of contact for customers. You will take orders, help guide the menu, and ensure accurate modifiers, allergies, and requests are communicated.

In a fast-paced café, you’ll deliver hospitality while maintaining speed and accuracy, stay organized, and work closely with baristas and kitchen teammates. Starting pay is $9.25/hour with opportunities for increases based on performance.

Position Summary

At Hometown Coffee & Juice, the Cashier is often the first point of connection with our customers. As a Cashier, you'll create a welcoming experience from the moment someone approaches the counter while helping keep service accurate, efficient, and moving smoothly.

You'll take orders, answer questions, guide customers through the menu, and ensure details such as modifiers, allergies, and special requests are communicated accurately. A successful Cashier combines genuine hospitality with strong attention to detail and the ability to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.

What You'll Do

Deliver a Great First Impression

• Welcome every customer with warm, genuine hospitality.
• Take orders accurately and efficiently.
• Help customers navigate the menu and make informed decisions about food and beverage offerings.
• Communicate modifiers, allergies, and special requests accurately.

Maintain Speed & Accuracy

• Process payments, discounts, rewards, and other transactions according to company procedures.
• Maintain awareness of the line and keep orders moving without sacrificing accuracy or hospitality.
• Communicate clearly with baristas, expo, runners, and kitchen teammates to support smooth service.
• Help resolve order questions or discrepancies quickly and professionally.

Know the Menu

• Build strong knowledge of Hometown's food, coffee, juice, smoothie, and beverage offerings.
• Stay current on menu changes, specials, promotions, and other important information.
• Confidently answer customer questions and seek support when needed.

Maintain Cleanliness & Organization

• Keep the register and surrounding service area clean, organized, and stocked.
• Maintain a welcoming and customer-ready counter area.
• Support dining room and FOH cleanliness as needed throughout the shift.

Support the Team

• Stay aware of the needs of the café and proactively step in where support is needed.
• Work collaboratively with teammates during busy periods.
• Bring a positive, dependable, and team-first attitude to every shift.

What You Bring

• Previous customer service or food service experience is preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfort handling transactions and learning POS systems.
• A genuine interest in creating great customer experiences.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout the café for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
