Job Title: Cashier

Reports To: Customer Service Manager / Bookkeeper

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

To operate a cash register and check-stand efficiently and courteously, adhering to all front-end procedures and company policies. Cashiers are also responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and courteous service.

Essential Job Functions

• Scan grocery orders accurately and efficiently.
• Identify departments and modifiers that do not scan correctly.
• Utilize scan and bag techniques for maximum efficiency, and bag according to customer requests.
• Count cash drawer before shift begins and keep it secure.
• Handle payment media accurately, following company policies on accountability and cash control.
• Follow correct void procedures.
• Identify produce items accurately and input lookup codes.
• Enforce security policies such as shoplifting prevention, purchase policies, BOB, and the Grapevine.
• Follow store supply procedures.
• Be familiar with weekly ad and Hot Sheet items.
• Provide high standards of customer service by greeting and thanking customers appropriately.
• Abide by all company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

Supplemental Job Functions

• Assist with general housekeeping around the front end.
• Help stock shelves or face the store when necessary.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Dexterity in hands for scanning and keying groceries.
• Strong communication skills for excellent customer service.
• Strong mathematical skills for register operation.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds up to 40% of the time.
• Ability to stand upright for most of the scheduled shift.
