Key Responsibilities:
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
  • Adhere to company policies on cash shortages/overages and work honestly to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay current with advertisements and promotions.
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions or accidents, and notify management.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and providing assistance.
  • Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts professionally and cooperatively.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
  • Support and assist vulnerable populations, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodations.
