Job summary

Mount Holyoke College is seeking a part-time Cashier in the Dining Services Department to handle payments at the point of sale and support a clean, welcoming dining environment for students and guests.

The cashier will manage cash, card, and One Card transactions, assist in supervising student workers, and help maintain order and sanitation throughout the dining commons. Training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Cash handling experience and proficiency in math.
  • Good communication skills, both written and orally, with a sound understanding of the English language.
  • Must maintain a positive attitude when dealing with students and the public.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the computerized point of sale system.
  • Monitor meal plan transactions to ensure student balances.
  • Stock and clean dining areas; keep the commons tidy and sanitary.
  • Work with students and independently as needed.
  • Assist in supervision and training of student workers.
  • Maintain clean, debris-free work areas at all times.
  • Oversee distribution and return of takeout containers and travel mugs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This role includes managing the checkout process efficiently, handling transactions in a timely manner, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
