Key Responsibilities:
  • Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the checkout lane.
  • Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit/debit cards, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
  • Adhere to company policies on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
  • Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (e.g., alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
  • Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
  • Follow established procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
  • Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.
  • Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs needed.
  • Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products and store services.
  • Follow all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflicts in a reasonable, non-confrontational manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues effectively.
  • Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
