Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Be visible, greet, engage, and assist customers actively as a Cashier/Checker.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to the company's cash shortage and overage limits, working honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
9. Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
11. Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment, making customers feel valued by answering questions about products.
13. Follow all local, state, and federal laws, along with company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults through direct interaction.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
