Job summary

Corner Bakery Cafe in Plano, TX is seeking a friendly Cashier to create a welcoming guest experience while ensuring accurate transactions. You will verify cash, answer phone calls, prepare beverages, assist with food prep, and keep the FOH stocked and clean throughout the shift.

The role requires good math and communication skills, basic reading and writing in English, and experience handling cash or POS systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• State Food handler card/ServSafe certification as applicable.
• Preferably a minimum of 3 months work experience in a cash handling capacity.
• Possess strong guest service and communication skills.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Proficient in use of POS – Point of Sale systems.
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• Must be proficient in basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)

Responsibilities

• Makes coffee/tea and other drinks – serves as barista for specialty drinks.
• Packages sweets and cakes.
• Sets up and maintains abundant displays/changes displays by time of day.
• Responsible for condiment station set up.
• Responsible for FOH set up (table tents/stanchion signs, etc.).
• Cashier station duties including operation and cash flow.
• Verify initial cash.
• Ensures accurate financial transactions.
• Answer phone.
• Describe food offerings/allergens/nutrition.
• Upsell and suggestive selling of products.
• Frost cakes and cut bars/brownies.
• Maintain stocked FOH area.
• Mop and sweep and empty trash when required.
• Communicate effectively with guests.
• Alert Manager to guest issues for resolution.
• Support company initiatives (sales goals, guest service, food safety).
• Follow safety and sanitation requirements.

Job description

The Cashier is responsible for creating and facilitating an environment focused on guest relations while ensuring the financial integrity of each transaction throughout the shift. Verifies initial cash. Answers phone calls. Responsible for making coffee/tea, cooking soups, set up displays, set up and break down of condiment station and FOH set up. Makes beverages, keeps FOH stocked, frosts cakes, cuts bars/brownies, empties trash at end of shift or as required. Assists with clean‑up/sweeping and mopping as required. May substitute for Expo, SA, or bussing if needed.
