Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Cashier/Checker is responsible for being visible and actively greeting, engaging and assisting customers.
2. Process customer transactions efficiently through the check lane, ensuring accuracy.
3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.
4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
8. Stay updated on current and upcoming promotions and ads.
9. Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions, and notifying management.
11. Perform preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment for customers, assisting with questions about products.
13. Follow all applicable laws and company guidelines.
14. Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist diverse customer needs, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Desired Previous Job Experience:

• Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred.
