Job description

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

1. Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.
2. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
3. Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
4. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and overages, working honestly to control loss.
5. Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
6. Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
7. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons where applicable.
8. Stay updated with current, upcoming, seasonal, and special advertisements.
9. Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.
10. Reinforce safety programs, follow safety procedures, and report unsafe conditions or incidents.
11. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
12. Create a welcoming environment, answering questions about products both in the department and store-wide.
13. Follow all applicable laws and company policies.
14. Work effectively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
15. Manage conflicts in a nonconfrontational, cooperative manner.
16. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
17. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
18. Support and assist customers, including minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
19. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction).
